Founder

Hello! I’m Chris, the founder and head prop-maker at The Props Lab. My interest in prop-making began in 2016 when I bought my first 3D printer and subsequently volunteered in musical theatre. My favourite aspect of prop-making is that I can combine my problem-solving skills from my engineering background with my creativity to make some truly cool things!

Hellooooo Instagram I’m back! I’ve been taking a bit of a break from social media but I think it might be worth posting occasionally to get some creativity going! I’ve been doing a bunch of self-development including most recently learning Houdini, which is where I made this jellyfish! It was made using soft-body and wire-sim physics - it’s by far the favourite thing I’ve made in Houdini but I’ll post some of the other stuff in the coming weeks :) Hellooooo happy new year everybody (only 27 days late... eep!) This year I'm going to really try to work on my 3D skills by trying to do a little bit of digital sculpting every day on top of my regular stuff. Cast and crew screening for @thesiegeofrobinhood with @meredithccooney and @lauraeldarart ! Congratulations to @paulallica and everyone that made the film possible - you should all be very proud :) Another year... another fantasy competition! My friends and I are such big fantasy nuffs that we made this Golden Gaytime inspired trophy for the winner! (Not sponsored by @streetsicecreamau , but if there's an opportunity for free golden gaytimes we wouldn't say no 😉🤞) The winner (me) walks away with not only the trophy, a box of gaytimes on the dime of the losers (not me) but most importantly G L O R Y (me). I AM NOW ONE WITH THE GOOGLY EYES Guess who found some of my old 3D models in some random folder on my old computer! If you ever need motivation with your art, look back at some of the old stuff you made. This is the first 3D mode l ever made - it's the holy hand grenade from monty python and the holy grail 🙂 I particularly love how shit the model is - it somehow manages to be a super blocky model but also 4 million polygons 😅 my poor old computer must have struggled just a 'lil with the 10 gb 3D model 😂 I also remember excitedly showing my mum when I made it and her reaction was just "uhhhh... okay/??". #throwbackthursdayonasaturdaymorning #ohboy How cute are these Michaelangelo's David planters that I have been printing?!?
